Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu Therapy

Shiatsu is a Japanese form of therapeutic bodywork. The word Shiatsu means "finger pressure”. There are several styles of Shiatsu. The two forms I practice are Namikoshi Shiatsu and Shiatsu Anma. Shiatsu uses manual techniques to access Qi in the body. Qi is the vital energy in our body that underlies all functioning. People feel good when there is abundant Qi in the meridians. If the Qi becomes blocked in any of the channels, illness or disease can result. I use several techniques including pressure, kneading, correcting, shaking, exercising, vibrating and tapping. All of the techniques are performed on the meridian lines and vital points based in Traditional Chinese Medicine. When these points are stimulated, they balance Qi.

Shiatsu is performed with the client fully clothed and does not involve the use of oils. I start with an evaluation to determine the imbalance that is present. I plan a session that will provide the most therapeutic benefit based on your needs. Shiatsu improves many conditions including stress, chronic pain, headaches, insomnia, shoulder and neck pain, sports injuries, arthritis, depression, menopause symptoms, back problems, fatigue, digestion imbalance and maintaining good health.
